Two new
colonoscopes arrive at BGH

Brockville General
Hospital has received two new colonoscopes, thanks to the Screen for the
Cure Golf Tournament held at the Brockville Country Club in July. The
organizing committee gathered recently to celebrate the arrival of the new
equipment, which is used for colonoscopies performed by general surgeons at
the hospital. A colonoscope
is a long, flexible viewing tube used to inspect the colon and rectum for
abnormalities, which can lead to the diagnosis of colon cancer. The Screen
for the Cure Tournament raised approximately $35,000. In front, from left,
are: Committee member Jack Butt; BGH Central Service Supervisor
Michelle Myatt; committee members Sharon Clarke, Heather Brown and
Doris Hallett; and Pentax Canada Eastern Ontario Territory Manager Rory
Walker. In back are committee members Keith Fraser, Russ Gaskin, Ron Healy;
General Surgeon Dr. William Redmond with one of the new colonoscopes; BGH
President and CEO Ray Marshall; committee chair Don Moore; and committee
members Adrian Geraghty, Bob Pearce and Bob Castle. Next year’s Screen for
the Cure Golf Tournament will be held June 18, 2010 at the Brockville
Country Club.
