First Angel Gets Wings for Palliative Care

Sandra Thompson (right), Bereavement Coordinator for the Brockville and District Hospice Palliative Care Service (BDHPCS), and Patricia Howlett (centre), Coordinator of Volunteers for the BDHPCS, take direction from Palliative Care Volunteer Lillian Burns (left) in hanging Angels of Remembrance at the Brockville General Hospital (BGH) Garden Street Site.

“Lillian has been a volunteer with palliative care for many years,” says Thompson, “and in every aspect of the program. It’s our volunteers that make the difference. We thought Lillian should hang the first angel.”

The Annual Tree of Remembrance event begins November 25th, marking the memory of missed loved ones at Christmas while supporting local palliative care. Angels of Remembrance are invited to hang angels on the Remembrance Tree in honour of their loved ones as they make a donation to the BDHPCS. Angels and trees will be at the 1000 Islands Mall in Brockville December 1st to 4th, the Prescott Royal Bank December 8th and 9th, the Athens Pharmasave December 9th and 10th, and at both BGH sites until December 28th.
