Cardio Rehab Fundraiser Raises Spirits—and $20,000 for Community-Funded Program

Brockville—The Annual Laughter for the Heart fundraiser held June 8th at the Brockville Memorial Centre raised over $20,000 for the community-funded Brockville Cardiovascular Rehab Program (BCP). Blended from two popular fundraising events—the annual BCP Wine Tasting and the BCP Evening with Comedian Jimmy Keys—Laughter for the Heart provided close to 300 guests with gastronomic and comedic entertainment. Local wineries and restaurants donated their refreshments and service, while entertainer Jimmy Keys from Florida provided the laughter that is the perfect prescription for a healthy heart. Pictured enjoying the evening are friends and staff members of Brockville General Hospital: (l – r) Doris Morrison, Cathy Sands, Stephanie Jones, Dana White, Shirley Mulder, Helen Ostap, and Maria Revenboer. The BCP, which offers recovering cardiac patients from Brockville and surrounding area local access to information or support in making lifestyle changes toward a healthy recovery, is based at Brockville General Hospital. The program receives no government funding and runs entirely on community donations.
