Black and
White Gala Raises $70,000
It was a sold-out, spectacular celebration of a major
community achievement.
The Brockville and District Hospital Foundation’s Black
and White Gala lit up the Brockville Armouries Saturday night as the people
of Leeds/Grenville gathered to mark 125 years of community service for
Brockville General Hospital. Over 280 attendees enjoyed the black-tie
evening of exotic cuisine, elegant socializing, and excellent entertainment
while raising funds toward the purchase of an Isotope Indicator—state of the
art technology used in the assessment of breast cancer.
After both a silent and a live auction, Gala Committee
Co-Chairs Dr. Ardis and Mrs. Marsha Lindsay brought the evening to its peak
with the presentation to the Foundation of a cheque for $70,000, well
exceeding the original goal of $50,000.
When presenting the cheque, Mrs. Lindsay commented on
the generosity of the community toward the gala and the fundraising.
“Time and again, as Ardis and I worked with the
committee to pull this event together,” said Lindsay, “we were touched and
amazed by the enthusiasm and support from businesses, groups and individuals
who responded to our requests, donated directly to the fund, or came forward
on their own to ask if they could help.
“On behalf of the entire Gala Committee,” she added,
“it’s been privilege and a joy to work on this very special event.”
