Community Care and Share Cheque Presentation

Brockville—Back where it all began: Community Care and Share Tournament Committee members recently gathered again with Brockville General Hospital BGH) staff in the Brockville Cardiovascular Program (BCP) rehab unit where the new tournament was announced last February. Sharing in the cheque donation of $28,000 in support of the BCP are (seated, l – r) BGH staff Adonica Keddy, Margriet de Bruyn, (standing, front row l – r) Helen Ostap, Jason Lafave, Ted Hughes (Brockville Lions Club), Internist Dr. Jay Bhatt, Cathy Thomas (Brockville Highland Golf Course), Mike Galbraith (Brockville Lions Club), (standing back row, l – r) Adrian Geraghty (Committee Chair), Don Russell (Brockville Kinsmen Club), BGH President and CEO Ray Marshall, and Courtney LePage (Brockville and District Civitan Club).

Created from the best of the former Prostate Cancer Research Tournament, the fundraiser is the first joint effort by the Brockville Civitan, Brockville Lions and Brockville Kinsmen clubs. Eighty percent of the proceeds were targeted to support the Brockville Cardiovascular Rehabilitation Program at BGH, with the remaining funds split among three charitable initiatives chosen by the three service clubs: Brockville and Area Special Olympics(Civitan), Operation Harvest Sharing (Kinsmen), and the Lions’ Vision Program.
