Annual Angel Tree Raises over $11,000 for Local Palliative Care

Brockville and area—The Annual Hospice Palliative Care Angel Tree of Remembrance has raised $11,336.91 for local palliative care.

The Brockville and District Hospice Palliative Care Service (BDHPCS), based in Brockville General Hospital, hosts the event each year at Christmastime. The Annual Tree of Remembrance event began November 25th, bringing together cherished memories and charity in a unique event. Angels of Remembrance can hang angels on the Remembrance Tree in honour of their loved ones as they make a donation to the BDHPCS. Trees are hosted at both hospital sites until the end of December. For 2011, trees were also hosted briefly at the Thousand Islands Mall in Brockville, plus locations in Athens and Prescott. The BDHPCS promotes quality of life for people living with a life-limiting illness, and is available at both sites of the Brockville General Hospital, long-term care homes and retirement homes, and in-home within the community.
