FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

It’s
Beginning to Look a Lot Like…
Christmas
at Brockville General Hospital!
Brockville—Festive Father Christmas greets
clients and families at Brockville General Hospital’s
Charles Street site, standing beside
one of the 16 Christmas trees appearing like magic throughout the
hospital—all done by volunteers.
“It’s
difficult to be in hospital or visiting family in hospital at Christmas,”
says Christine Deault, Coordinator of Volunteer Services for the Brockville
General Volunteer Association (BGVA), “so we make sure to brighten up as
many spots as we can at
both Charles and Garden Street sites.
“Housekeeping gets the trees out of storage and sets up the ones that have
to be disassembled each year, “ Deault explains, “and the volunteers
decorate them all.”
The
volunteers also pack everything away when the holidays are over.
Staff
members at BGH provide extra touches in the work areas, and the dietary
staff takes special pride in decorating the cafeterias for everyone’s
enjoyment.
“When the
trees start going up at the start of December,” says Deault, “it starts a
chain reaction. Everybody gets into the spirit of the season.”
