Brockville General Hospital Receives Notification of Funding Decision
Regarding Mental Health Transfer
Brockville, Leeds/Grenville: The South East Local Health Integration Network
(LHIN) and the Champlain LHIN confirmed last week—following many months of
careful deliberation, discussion and hard work by all parties involved—that
a decision has been reached on the transfer of funding associated with the
divestment of Acute Mental Health Services from the Royal Ottawa Hospital (ROH)
to Brockville General Hospital for psychiatric services and care.
The LHINs announced that BGH will receive $895,000 in additional operating
funding to go along with the previously announced $825,000 in funding to
address wage harmonization issues.
Now that the actual dollar values have been decided, BGH staff will revisit
the proposed budget and develop detailed operating budgets. Getting to this
detailed level of planning will enable BGH to meet with the involved unions
shortly to discuss the ongoing staffing requirements.
The transfer of Acute Mental Health Services and beds from ROH to Brockville
General Hospital was ordered by the Health Services Restructuring Commission
and confirmed by the Ministry of Health in 2006.
