BGVA Hosts Gift of Life Donation Registry April 23rd

Brockville
—In support of National Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Week, the Brockville General Volunteer Association (BGVA) will host an information display and donor registry at the 1000 Islands Mall on April 23rd from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

“Most people don’t know that signing a donor card is not enough anymore,” explains BGVA President Maureen Overy. “You need to register your donation with the Gift of Life Network.”

The BGVA will have registration forms available at the information display for the public to use.  Participants will also enjoy a free coffee, courtesy of Rick Benoit and the Ultimate Cup.

You may also register on-line at www.giftoflife, or at a ServiceOntario centre where you renew your photo health card. Once you register your consent, the information stays in a Ministry of Health and Long Term Care database to be made available to Trillium Gift of Life Network at the appropriate time so that your family knows your wishes.

One organ and tissue donor can save up to eight lives, and enhance as many as 75 more. Over 1500 Ontario residents are waiting for transplant. This year, Trillium is targeting 1500 new donors for the 2011 campaign: Life for 1500.

Sign your donor card. Register your donation. Talk to your family. Save a life.
