BGVA Holds Annual Awards

The Brockville General Volunteer Association (BGVA) held its annual Volunteer Awards September 16th. This year, awards were given for special service, long service, and lifetime service. Pictured receiving their awards for lifetime service are (l – r) Jim Tickel, Pat Bennett and Audrey Sine from BGVA President Maureen Overy (far right). Missing is Hugh Bates.

The BGVA is one of the oldest service groups in the Brockville area, having celebrated 120 years of service in 2009. It is also the 4th oldest hospital auxiliary in the Province, with a current membership of over 320 active volunteers.

“Our volunteers are very dedicated,” says Overy. “If we totaled the years of service from only those receiving awards today, it would add up to 317 years given in support of Brockville General Hospital.”
