Vice Chair of Canada’s Mental Health Commission to speak at BGH Annual
General Meeting June 21
Dr.
David Goldbloom, Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto and
Vice Chair of the Mental Health Commission of Canada, is guest speaker at
the Brockville General Hospital’s Annual General Meeting June 21st.
He will present on “Stigma and Mental Health.”
“We’re
very glad that Dr. Goldbloom can be here to provide his experience with
mental health to the people of our community,” says Ray Marshall, President
and CEO of BGH. “David is a very engaging speaker and a passionate advocate
on mental health issues in this country.”
In
addition to his clinical and research activities, David Goldbloom is active
as teacher with the Faculty of Medicine at University of Toronto. He has won
numerous awards, and in 2009 was elected as a Fellow of the Canadian
Psychiatric Association. Dr. Goldbloom has written over 100 scientific
articles and book chapters, and recently edited a new textbook titled
Psychiatric Clinical Skills. He has provided numerous talks and lectures
to student, professional and public audiences.
The
evening event will take place Monday, June 21, at the BGH Charles Street
Site cafeteria. Dr. Goldbloom will speak at 7:00 p.m., the AGM to follow at
8:00 p.m. There will be displays for public viewing of various hospital
departments, groups and activities. There is no fee for admission to this
event and all are welcome to attend.
Brockville General Hospital celebrates 125 years of service to the
communities of Leeds and Grenville Counties in 2010.
