2nd Annual BGH Garden Street Garage Sale August
13
Geared to Replenish Resident “Fun” Fund
Brockville—It’s that time again! The
Brockville General Hospital (BGH) Garden Street
Site garage will open its doors to the public on
Saturday, August 13, with a garage sale
fundraiser for the Resident Fund. Dave Bessant,
Vice-President of the Brockville General
Volunteer Association, and Sherry Anderson, BGH
Director of Complex Continuing Care, Palliative
Care and Rehabilitation, are asking for
community and staff support with donated items
for this fundraiser.
“This is another example of how the community
and the hospital can work together to provide a
quality patient experience here,” says Bessant.
“Last year, our first garage sale was very
successful. All proceeds from this event will
allow us to increase our ability to provide
activities and entertainment for our patients at
Garden Street Site.”
The BGH Garden Street Site Resident Fund
supports patient activities through the purchase
of bingo prizes, payment of entertainers’ fees,
or assistance for costs incurred on bus
excursions into the community. Last year, with
the fund quickly running out of assets, it was
decided that a fundraiser was in order to
bolster the funds available.
“We are accepting all previously-loved treasures
for this garage sale,” says Sherry Anderson.
“The Brockville General Volunteer Association is
providing the manpower to ticket and sell the
items. The sale will run from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00
p.m., and there will be coffee and muffins for
sale for those who want to do breakfast at the
same time.”
Small appliances (microwave ovens, toaster
ovens, etc.) in good working order will be
accepted. Items can be dropped off to Sherry
Anderson or Lee Ann Grattan in the GSS offices.
Larger items can be dropped off at Garden Street
Site main garage.
