PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT

Reporting to the Director of Critical Care, and under the medical direction and supervision of the Chief of Emergency, the Physician Assistant provides care as part of the Emergency department team for all patients.

The Physician Assistant will be working closely with the Attending Emergency room Physician within agreed upon guidelines and under specific medical directives. The primary responsibilities will be assessing patients, ordering diagnostics, identifying a treatment plan, assisting with procedures and other appropriate interventions. The successful candidate may be required to work a variety of shifts.

QUALIFICATIONS

·     Graduate of a Physician Assistant Program with a CCPA or PA-C designation

·     Experience in an Emergency Room Setting preferred

·     Currently hold ACLS and or PALS certificates

·     Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and with respect in an oral and written format with patients, public, colleagues and other health disciplines

·     Demonstrated effective problem solving and critical thinking

·     Demonstrated ability to apply basic computer skills

·     Demonstrated and proven ability to work in a collaborative care model with all members of the health care team

·     Demonstrated ability to perform well in critical and high stress situations

·     Demonstrated commitment to continuing education activities supporting ongoing professional learning

·     Demonstrated commitment to patient safety

·     Must have demonstrated ability to meet the attendance standards of the Hospital

·     Bilingualism is an asset
