Brockville & District Hospital Foundation
The
Brockville and District Hospital Foundation supports the Brockville General
Hospital’s commitment to provide compassionate patient care and excellence
in the provision of their programs and services
Cash Gifts of money, cheques and
VISA/MasterCard will be accepted for restricted and unrestricted purposes.
Unrestricted gifts will be applied to the Foundation and restricted
donations will be accepted for the designated purpose in keeping with the
BGH’s policies and the donor’s intent.
Gifts of Negotiable Securities for which there
is a readily available market will be accepted under the same policy as cash
gifts. A letter of agreement from the donor will state that the securities
will be converted to cash at the earliest possible date through a broker
approved by the Foundation.
Securities for which there is no readily available secondary market,
such as stocks in a private company or closely held securities may be
accepted with the prior approval of the Foundation.
Gifts of Real Estate will be accepted only on prior
approval of the Foundation. A full appraisal of the property will be done by
and at the expense of the donor. Such gifts will be placed on the market as
soon as feasible.

In-Kind Donations, Gifts of Personal Property
and services may be accepted providing they reflect the needs and mission of the
BGH. Gifts of services are generally not tax deductible. Gifts of personal property will
be accepted only if the Foundation feels that a reasonable market exists for
such items. Donors should be aware that an appraisal is required for the
issuance of a tax receipt and must be done at arms’ length from the donor and
the BGH. Any costs associated with the appraisal, the conveyance, and the
delivery of the gift are to be borne by the donor. The appraised value must be
approved by the Foundation. The amount of the receipt is based on the fair
market value of the property on the date of the gift. A percentage of the value
(less than 20%) may be used to market the gift.
Bequests will be accepted and applied to the
designated purpose, as agreed upon by the donor and the BGH. Bequests are
recognized when they are received, not at the time they are described in the
will of a prospective donor. Undesignated gifts will be applied to the
Foundation.
