  • The school closed in 1974 after 1188 graduates graduated from school
  • Gary Yeo was the last Graduate, and was also the first male to enter the school in 1971
  • 5 males graduated from the school of nursing.
  • Vera J. Preston (1938) became Director of Nursing in 1949 until her retirement in 1984.
  • Blanche Easton 1906 became Director of Nursing in North Western Ontario.
  • Dorothy Barret Maberley, 1943, was the first B.G.H. Graduate to receive a nursing degree in teaching.

We cannot forget those who served in World War 2. As well as nursing sister Mary Nunn, 1906, who went overseas in 1916 and joined the Imperial Service, was honoured with the Royal Red Cross by King George V at Buckingham Palace.

The Alumnae was formed in 1923 under the leadership of Miss Maude Arnold (1909)
